FlowerChat Turns Five
FlowerChat, an online forum that allows the floral community to connect and discuss what’s happening in the flower industry, marked its fifth anniversary at the beginning of November.


Flower Council’s Winter 2007 Trend – Floral Empire
The Flower Council of Holland’s Winter 2007-2008 trend ‘Floral Empire’ is now in effect and continues on until Valentine’s Day. This theme incorporates historical elements and shape to give contemporary materials an imperial feel. Popular symbols in ‘Floral Empire’ are goblets, rosettes, insignias and busts as well as sculptures.

On Oct. 30, 2007, the federal government announced that 2008 will bring tax relief to Canadians.


AIFD to Offer New Designation
The American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) is advancing plans to offer a new professional floral design designation called a Certified Floral Designer (CFD). The new designation will assist both the industry and the public in recognizing designers who are proficient in the fundamentals of floral design.

Flowers Canada (Ontario) Ltd. Launches Pick Ontario
pick_ontarioFlowers Canada (Ontario) Ltd. recently launched the retail side of Pick Ontario, a comprehensive marketing campaign intended to raise awareness, interest and demand for Ontario-grown cut flowers and potted plants. The organization is now in the process of informing retailers about Pick Ontario and preparing for the consumer campaign that will follow in the spring of 2008.
