The floors of an industry trade show can offer up a dizzying array of new products, trends and colours and it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Before you head out to a show, it’s essential you go in with a plan or risk overbuying, underbuying or missing out on the next big thing:

For this portfolio, Kara created baby arrangements perfect for a baby shower or hospital delivery. She demonstrates that there are many options in keepsakes as well as using the traditional roses and carnations in fun, unique ways. Happy “Birth” Day is her high-end design.

By Design: Lara Mathias
Lara Mathias emigrated from England to Canada in 1990. As a child, she loved flowers, and shortly after arriving in Vancouver, Lara began formal studies in design and subsequently entered Kwantlen College’s floral design course. Lara joined West Van Florist in 2001 and is now manager of the design team and co-ordinates weddings and special events. She has been published in Real Wedding and Perfect Wedding magazines and featured on Breakfast Television. She enjoys teaching, giving demonstrations, and further honing her skills as a florist. Lara believes good designers constantly reinvent themselves and learn from their peers. For this portfolio, Lara did not create any specific low-budget bridal bouquets, although inexpensive varieties can be substituted into the designs.
