Purple Asparagus

A new variety of purple asparagus is so tender and sweet that it can be eaten raw.  The Pacific Purple strain contains only tiny amounts of lignin, the fibre that makes normal green asparagus spears stringy. This is a definite colour plus for those who are venturing into the craze for edible floral centrepieces.
