Bridal Blooms - Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
Flowers by Fred, located in Saskatoon, Sask., is a shop
that features a wealth of experience and has received local, national
and international accolades. The shop is home to five floral designers
who love to experiment and share ideas and techniques with each other.
The florist is recognized in the city of Saskatoon not only for its
floral flair but also for its dedication to the community. A condition
of employment at the shop is that the owner and employee must volunteer
10 per cent of their hours to assisting the community.
For this design portfolio, the Flowers By Fred staff co-operatively came together as a team to create five unique wedding offerings. The five designers, Alisha Lilley, Bradley McKnight, Ryan Muenz, Monté Gagné and Fred Chlan all bring diverse design styles and backgrounds to the table.

Ryan Muenz
Ryan “Reno” Muenz created this piece, which was inspired by the Himalayas and Native spirituality. The feathers and beads bring forth a feeling of warmth and connection to the Spirit. The white dendrobium orchids melt like snow on the umbrella fern, representing new life and new beginnings, while the amaranthus makes the bouquet look exotic and mystical.

Bradley McKnight
Bradley McKnight designed this bouquet, inspired by a “snowshoe.” This spindle design concept is brought to life for the avant- garde winter wedding. The Australian fern outlines and weaves the dogwood form while the white hydrangeas and dendrobium reflect crystals of snow. Hypericum berries and dried wild apples create a warm depth for the “soul” of the “snowshoe.”

Monté Gagné
Monté Gagné is the artist behind this bouquet with a style of a magical woodland glade. The Yin Yang base represents soul mates that have come together in perfect divine balance. The deer antler represents gentleness and the stones, which are nested into moss, invite fertility into the relationship. The bouquet as a whole is meant to delight and enchant with its combination of earth and celestial vibrations.

Alisha Lilley
Alisha Lilley drew on inspiration from Saskatoon for this design. The ice crystal represents looking deeper into a crowd and seeing every individual’s unique beauty. Ecuadorian roses, astilbe, hydrangea, cedar, pearls and rhinestones helped make this hand-tied shine.
