A U.S. florist company is wrapped up in a legal battle
with a man who says a thank-you note from the florist wrecked his
marriage.
According to news reports, 1-800-Flowers sent a written note of thanks to the customer for his order of a dozen roses. The note was spotted by the man’s wife, who then called the company asking about the order. The floral company faxed her a copy of the sales receipt, along with the note sent by her husband to his new girlfriend. “Just wanted to say that I love you and you mean the world to me!” read the greeting.
The man’s wife has since filed for divorce, using the invoice as proof of his infidelity. The man has filed a suit against the floral company, blaming it for the end of his marriage. He’s accused the company of breach of contract as he says a sales representative told him there would be no mention of the flower purchase sent to his home.
