Katie Wilson, graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, is the manager at Neville MacKay’s My Mother’s Bloomers in Halifax, N.S. Since joining the Bloomers Team, Katie has had her designs featured on CTV’s Breakfast Television, and Entertainment Tonight Canada. She has also done arrangements for the East Coast Music Awards, Juno Awards productions, and for several visiting celebrities. This past fall she was chosen first-place winner in the People’s Choice Competition at the National Conference 2006 for Flowers Canada.
Katie’s inspirations are many and varied: the contemporary energy of
the city, the natural beauty of rural Nova Scotia, especially the Bras
d’Or Lake area of Cape Breton, where she loves to spend time at the
family cottage, and the diversified cultures of Greece, Italy, and
Russia, which she enjoyed during her travels. Katie’s designs reflect
youthful exuberance, a passion for detail, and pride in every
creation. At only 22 years old, Katie is looking forward to a long,
successful career as a floral designer.

Spring Garden To-Go
What a great way to celebrate and welcome spring! The rugged textures of the parrot tulips contrast masterfully with their soft colours. The punch of the vibrant citrus-coloured roses along with the comforting greenery makes for a tied bouquet that would be a treat for anyone!

My Messy Garden
There is something magical happening when we see a weedy, branch-covered garden, where colourful flowers struggle to grow and bloom, seemingly against the odds. This is the thought behind “My Messy Garden!” Beautiful parrot tulips grow and flourish, nestled with cheerful muscari beneath sweeping spring branches, all competing for the warming rays of the season.

Sushi Anyone
Asian cuisine is enjoying worldwide popularity, especially sushi, offering the inspiration for this design. This Japanese art focuses a lot of the visual appeal on the presentation, with colours and textures arranged beautifully. For the floral design, strong colours are placed in “bite-sized” pieces within a compact space, creating a true feast for the soul!
