Blooms Avenue Features All-Ontario Growers
cb2
Kees van Schaik (left), of Casey Greenhouses talks with Peter Schröder of AB Products over a display of Casey’s anthuriums on Blooms Avenue at Canada Blooms, The Toronto Flower and Garden Show.
Eight Ontario growers provided Graves with the products, including: anthurium cuts from Casey Greenhouses, Delhi; velvet elephant ears, string of pearls, and baby tears from AB Products, Woodstock; cut amaryllis from Prins Grow Inc., Jordan Station; gerbera from Van Geest Brothers Ltd., St. Catharines and Grimsby; potted anthuriums from Westland Greenhouses, Grand Bend; cut and potted tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths from Spring Valley Gardens, St. Catharines; oriental lilies and hydrangea from Trend Floral Inc, Niagara Falls; freesia and clivia from Virgil Greenhouses Ltd, Niagara On The Lake.  Enthusiasts attending Canada’s largest indoor garden show were raving about both the products, which they did not know were grown in Ontario, and the innovative ways in which they were displayed. A photo of “Grower Pete’s” popular velvet elephant ear plant is featured in New Products on page 32.

Canada Blooms attendees commented, “Where’s the bulb?!” when they saw Albert Graves’ arrangement of cut amaryllis, supplied by Prins Grow Inc.  Grower Fabiola quipped “It’s back at my greenhouse!”
