Winter Weddings

Written by Veena Sagoo, CAFA, SAFU
WINTER WEDDINGS
Originally from Kenya, Veena Sagoo immigrated to Canada in 2003. Having started her career in the fashion industry, Veena quickly found herself fascinated by nature’s artistry while exploring the various game reserves in East Africa. Her love of nature led Veena to floral design. Twenty years later, her passion for flowers continues to grow.

Veena received her training and certification in 1998 from the South African Floral Union to become a floral judge and floral demonstrator. She also had the opportunity to be the president of the Kenyan Floral Arrangement Club for two years, during which she diligently organized many events all over Kenya.
Veena was also selected to attend the Chelsea Flower Show in 1997, where she gained a lot of international experience by attending various floral workshops. Just before immigrating to Canada, Veena participated in the 2002 World Flower Show in Glasgow, where she represented Kenya.

In 2005, Veena and her husband opened Ark Florals in Oakville, Ont. Veena is the head designer and specializes in weddings. Veena incorporates the bride’s and groom’s personalities into the wedding flowers and creates unique and innovative designs. Most of Veena’s designs revolve around the central theme of nature, thus she uses a lot of driftwood, branches, unusual plants and exotic materials.
