Passings
John Smith of Smith Bros. Florists died on December 19th, 2005. The news deeply saddened the Montreal floral industry. John was a staunch supporter of this ever-changing industry, and through his networking activities as a member in many philanthropic clubs and associations, as well as his presence and great generosity, he ensured that flowers stayed in people’s minds. He will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched.
Montreal Christmas Decorations
If prizes were being handed out for the best commercial Christmas displays in Montreal, the hands-down winner would be the Place Ville Marie’s University Street entrance. Not only was this presentation out of the ordinary with its suspended life-size angels decorating a huge Christmas tree, but also the use of white flowers made it all an ephemeral White Christmas dream.
Jardin Botanique de Montreal
Many new courses are being featured at the Botanical Gardens beginning in January 2006. One is how to grow azaleas and rhododendrons taking into consideration pH soil factors. Also for the first time “Initiation to Ikebana” is being offered.
