Quebec Gleanings by Rita Truba: January/February 2006
Written by Rita Truba
Montreal Gardeners’ & Florists’ Club
The first General Meeting of the Club for the 2005-2006 season was held at Centre Floral Hollandia in Vaudreuil in September.  First time guests were Francois Caron, the new general manager of the Interprovincial Flower Market, and June Marsden of the Hudson Garden Club.

On November 24, the second General Meeting of the club took place at Little Denmark Flower Shop in Hemmingford.  A committee was selected to work on the 120th anniversary of the Montreal Gardeners’ & Florists’ Club.  The nominating committee was appointed for the December annual General Meeting: Reinhardt Klammrodt of Patrick Studio, Manny Botelho of the Bouquet St. Laurent, and Jacques Miville-Deschenes of Le Bouquet in Montreal North.  Bill Carswell of Donations Canada was the guest speaker, and explained this tax/benefit plan approved by both Revenue Canada and Revenue Quebec to members.

“Autumn Songs” was the theme for the Koryu Shotokai Ikebana School students’ annual Japanese flower arranging exhibition at the Chapelle Historique du Bon Pasteur on Sherbrooke Street East during the last week of September.
