portfolio was arranged by Donna Gleeson, AIFD, CAFA. Here’s a
web-exclusive breakdown of the materials she used when creating the
designs for the May issue.
Donna Gleeson, AIFD, CAFA, has been in the floral industry for more than 30 years. She got her start in the design world through Seneca College’s Fashion Merchandising program and continued on with the floral program. Through the years, Donna has been accredited as an FTD Master Designer in 1992, inducted into AIFD in 1994 and made a CAFA member in 1996. Donna has worked in several prominent floral shops in Toronto and the Durham Region and has extensive experience in the business. She continues to expand her horizons by designing for floral shows, instructing for local wholesalers and holds a position on the CAFA board of directors. Donna is presently employed by Van Belle Flowers in Bowmanville, Ont.

Summer Breeze
The “cascade” of flowers creates lots of movement for the summer bride.
Shades of pink in cymbidium orchids, seeded eucalyptus and lily grass
make this bouquet soft and flowing. The traditional creams and whites
in the pearls and shell discs shimmer with sunlight. This bouquet is
held together on an aluminum silver rod with the use of mixed flexible
wires for binding.

Purple Passion
This tied bouquet of plum and fuchsia calla lilies is romantic and
nostalgic. With the use of statice and hot pink roses the tones are
softened. Ming is delicate with a touch of the traditional ivy leaves.
The pink glass beads hanging and the handle wrapped with aspidistra
leaves give the bouquet a finishing touch.

Circles of Coral
Circular movement is prominent with the mini callas and soft pink
leptospermum. Aspidistra is rolled and pinned to continue this line.
Lovely flesh-toned Ontario quartz with glass stones enhance the pink
tones in this arrangement. Reindeer moss and curly willow once again
bring the nature indoors.

Centre of Attention
The large green orb, made of bells of Ireland accented with pearl
pins, serves as the focal point of this design. Rows of colour in the
soft pink lisianthus and the delicate mauve waxflower enhance the
design and add new textures. Variegated pittosporum and seeded
eucalyptus finish this tablepiece in a metal tray.
