Flower Power Girls Team up at the Canadian National Fast Pitch Championship
Two respected floral families teamed together at the Canadian National Fast Pitch Championship in Île Perrot, Quebec in July.

Joey Lye from Tidy’s Flowers and Jody Waltho from the Canadian Institute of Floral Design, as well as fellow teammates of the Scarborough Spirit, represented their home province of Ontario. The defending National Champs, the Scarborough Spirit – sponsored by Tidy's Flowers and FTD – won bronze in the Metal round games.

Canadian Designers at the AIFD 2005 National Symposium
Six dynamic designers from Canada used their floral design talents to feature Seattle's blown glass during the AIFD 2005 National Symposium “Balance,” held in the Emerald City in July.  The featured designers were: Kevin Young AIFD, CAFA; Kathy Goh, AIFD; Debbie James AIFD; Katarina Lidvigsson AIFD; Lea Romanowski AIFD, CAFA; and Donald Yim AIFD.



33rd Annual Florist Trades Golf Tournament
The 33rd Annual Florist Trades Golf Tournament, presented by Flowers Canada (Ontario), was held in August at the Rockway Glen Golf Course & Estate Winery.  Among this year’s winners were:
• Most Honest Team – Carl Insley (Winward Silk), Brad Higginson (Alma Florists), Velta Berzins (Tidy's Flowers), Inta Taurins (Alma Florist)
• Canadian Florist Magazine Low Team Gross – Dave Hill (Plant Products Co. Ltd.), Andy Button (Plant Products Co. Ltd), Paul Bongers (Country Basket), Paul Day (Landscape Ontario)
• Teleflora – Closest to the Pin (Ladies) – Mara Lusis

Canadian Florists Among the Winners at the 2005 FTD Floral Extravaganza
FTD announced the 2005 FTD Member Awards at the 2005 FTD Floral Extravaganza, which was held in Dallas, TX in August.  Among the recipients were two florists from Canada.  The FTD New Member Award was given to Suzy Caiger of Ada’s Flowers in Oakville, Ont.  Tanya Wolff-Molson of Jenny's Floral Studio in Sarnia, Ont. was awarded the FTD John A. Valentine Award.

The FTD Member Award nominations are made by fellow FTD Members, Regional Vice Presidents of FTD and Field Business Consultants (FBCs).
