The event featured designers Heather Platt, AIFD and Julie Drago who presented a mix of colourful as well as traditional wedding designs to the audience. Platt told the crowd to make sure wedding bouquets and display pieces are big so even those in the back of the church can see the beauty. She emphasized how important it was to talk passionately about the flowers when working with a bride to get them excited about what you are doing. Both designers talked about how table-scaping will be the hot wedding trend and candles or LED lights are the perfect accessories to incorporate into centrepieces.

Platt was a fan of bright colour combinations and predicted that pink
and black will be a huge hit in the future. Many of Drago’s designs
used an English-style garden feel. She was a big fan of geometric
shapes and believes it will be a trend that will dominate the floral
industry.
The Flowers Canada Gold Cup Design Competition also took place at the show. Students from various floral schools submitted bridal bouquet themed-designs. There were 14 entries in all, which were judged by a secret panel of judges. The winning design was held by a bride who walked down the show's aisle to properly display the bridal bouquet.
The 2008 Gold Cup Design Competition winners are:
1st place – Heather McNaughton, Conestoga College
2nd place – Titiana Alic, Seneca College
3rd place – Frances Reinick, Conestoga College
