Pick Ontario takes 'go local' to Queen's Park
Written by Pick Ontario

At the end of June, Queen’s Park in Toronto was transformed into a sea of "Local Freshness". Pick Ontario, partnered with Foodland Ontario rallied together in handing out cut flowers in support of buying local flowers and potted plants. The thousands of flowers handed out included chrysanthemums, alstroemeria, lysianthus, roses, freesia, lilies and many other popular Ontario flowers. The crowd favourites were by far the calla lilies and the gerbera daisies.

Among some of the attendees was the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Leona Dombrowsky, also a supporter of Pick Ontario. She seemed very pleased with the event’s attendance and the activities at hand. Andy Kuyvenhoven, President of Flowers Canada (Ontario) Inc, presented Dombrowsky with a beautiful bouquet of fresh Ontario grown flowers.

"Today's event was a great success. Our goal was to showcase the extreme freshness of locally grown flowers and plants, and more importantly, heighten our consumer's awareness of the variety of flowers grown right here in Ontario", said Gary Gander, the Marketing Director of Pick Ontario. "Plus, it's great to brighten up their day with some flowers to put on their desk."

Pick Ontario, a division of
Flower's Canada (Ontario) Inc, promotes buying flowers grown in greenhouses by local farmers. Ontario growers use the latest in technology and growing techniques and uphold some of the strictest quality standards in the world. Also by buying local products, we boost our economy and our environment.

Those at Queen's Park would agree that when you Pick Ontario, you are ensured the freshest variety of local product available.
