As a florist you get the chance to be with your customers at what can be both the happiest and sometimes saddest, points in their lives. Your products services can help make a bride look even more beautiful, a graduation day full of pride or the memory of a loved one last forever.
You have those customers and orders that you’ll never forgot and your fellow florist Pauline Blair of Stems & Gems in Carberry, Man., wants to hear all about them. Pauline is collecting stories from florists across Canada and compiling these moments together in a book to celebrate what flowers can truly do.
Pauline wrote me to describe what type of stories she’s looking for and why’s she decided to take on this project:
I want all your stories that inspired you or someone else from your shop. Stories about little miracles, angel stories, stories that made you laugh or cry. I want stories about how a difficult situation worked out in the end and you were amazed at how it all happened. I want your stories about customer responses to receiving flowers for whatever the occasion and how it touched them. We all have stories to tell and I want people to read about them. I think it will inspire us as we read these stories from other flower shops and will remind us why we got into this business in the first place. I think this is an exciting idea and I hope many of you will be a part of this adventure.
When you submit your story, be sure to include your name, shop name and location. If you intend to use actual first or last names in your stories, please ask their permission first, otherwise use fictional names. Once stories are submitted to Pauline, she reserves the right to the story and may edit it for content but will keep the integrity of the story intact.
