Poll results on Valentine's Day spending habits

The Globe and Mail recently conducted an online survey that reveals the Valentine's Day spending habits of readers. The poll asked if readers were big Valentine's Day spenders and 2,900 people participated in the survey. Here are the responses to the questions:

Would you be disappointed to get nothing from your partner on Valentine's Day?

Women: 43 per cent
Men: 19 per cent

How much will you be spending this year on your partner's Valentine's gift?

I'm single: 11 per cent
We don't do Valentine's Day: 27 per cent
$500+: 1 per cent
$200 to $500: 3 per cent
$100 to $200: 7 per cent
$50 to $100: 12 per cent
$25 to $50: 17 per cent
Less than $25: 22 per cent

What's the most you've spent on a Valentine's gift on your current or most recent partner?

Over $500: 3 per cent
$200 to $500: 6 per cent
$100 to $200: 13 per cent
$50 to $100: 21 per cent
$25 to $50: 21 per cent
Less than $25: 35 per cent
