So with our continued focus on all things green - the environment, climate change and wellness - bringing flowers and plants indoors is a perfect answer.
As a result we will see them feature strongly in interior design from patterned materials and wallpapers to the real thing! This is good news for flowers and plants – plants in particular for their health benefits. We’ll seek out ways to find space for them including hanging them on walls if necessary.
There’s an almost layered look to designs: flowers are used inside leaves to create truly organic patterns. Designs can be formal or just plain casual. Leaf veining and other elements taken from nature will inspire patterns. Green will be the predominant colour with bright highlights of yellow, pink, fuchsia and red.

Key flowers for this trend are:
-heart shaped anthurium flowers in a variety of green shades – they look almost like leaves
-organic shaped and energetic freesia
-summer peonies in pastel shades and soft round shapes
-anethum, also known as dill, is fine and almost transparent in complete contrast to anthurium for instance; they add a very natural and organic appearance to any design
-full, colourful and lavishly flowering dahlia – an attractive contrast to all green foliage, both in terms of shape and colour
-zantedeschia can look like a curled up leaf – especially if it’s a green or white variety

Plants that will work well as foliage or plants include:
-deeply veined leaved alocasia, more veining and almost see-through caladium, heart shaped anthurium, patterned calathea, two-coloured cordyline, lacy asparagus, patterned maranta and syngonium and freesia.
The suggested dates for this trend are May 1 through until Aug. 31 but as always you don’t have to stick to these dates; you can use it or even just elements of it for as long or as short a time as suits you and your customers.
