Hofland was host to ‘Inspired’, a wedding design show on May 13. Designer Kevin Ylvisaker, AIFD, PFCI demonstrated for packed crowd his take on prom and grad corsages, bridal bouquets and wedding centerpieces. During his two-hour show, Ylvisaker shared with florists tips and techniques and encouraged florists to remain confident about their product and the cost of their services. “The best thing we can learn as retail florists is not to apologize for our prices,” says Ylvisaker.

As far as colour trends, Ylvisaker said the chocolate and turquoise combination is on it’s way out to be replaced with pinks and oranges, with grey acting as a neutral. The designer demonstrated how florists can provide customers with out-of-season flowers by incorporating both permanent botanicals and fresh flowers into the same bouquet. Ylvisaker also presented a number of cascading bouquets as he says that big romantic designs are back in style and very popular in Europe at the moment.
