Rebecca Frizzell, CAFD, CAFA

Rebecca Frizzell cafd, cafa, began her career in the floral industry as a delivery driver at Jean’s Flowers in Truro, N.S. It was there that Rebecca realized she wanted to make floral design her craft. In 2003 at The Flower Shop Ltd. in Halifax, Rebecca was given the chance to combine art and floral design and her talent flourished. With full support and encouragement, Rebecca completed the Flowers Canada Accreditation Program and achieved the Canadian Accredited Floral Designer title, in addition to attending the Atlantic School of Floral Design for three years. She has since moved to Toronto and is currently creating at Pink Twig Floral Boutique.

Recently, Rebecca has achieved her designation from the Canadian Academy of Floral Design and will be inducted this fall as the first Atlantic Canadian member.

Red Delicious
This design is a delicious candle centrepiece combining fruit, fragrance and flora. The vibrant colour of the red roses together with the ring of apples and pillar candle incorporate a warm holiday vibe. The textures of the rolled aspidistra and equisetum add detail to the base of the arrangement. Natural twig elements complete the composition by creating a dynamic line, bringing flair to any dinner table.

Unconventional Mistletoe
During the holiday season, give people something fresh and new to kiss under! Red carnations and green button poms arranged in spheres are placed within wicker balls and hung with decorative ribbon. Hanging individually or in a group at various heights, these unique ornaments are a modern way to celebrate a romantic tradition.

A Modern Mantle
Designs for mantlepieces during the holidays are a popular request. To create a display that is original and modern, twigs are used as garland to frame cylinder bud vases placed along the mantle. The addition of cherries or cranberries to the vases are a splendid way to achieve both a natural and festive detail. Criss-crossing steel grass unites the vases and adds a playful line while the use of red and green anthurium satisfies contemporary tastes.

Snow White
Copper is a great alternative to the typical silver and golds traditionally used to create just a bit of holiday sparkle! A combination of copper baubles, delicate angel hair and iced winter branches creates shimmer, while the Oriental lilies enhance elegance and drama. Threaded dendrobium orchids give the illusion of falling snow, creating a festive show-stopper for any winter event.
