June 14, 2010 - A proven anti-ethylene flower product, EthylBloc™ technology is now registered and available for sale in the world’s largest center of flower activity, The Netherlands. EthylBloc™ technology is a patented flower quality management system which works naturally with many types of flowers and potted plants to keep them fresh after harvest, so that consumers can enjoy their beauty for longer. It protects cut flowers and potted plants from wilting and fading caused by the damaging effects of naturally occurring and external sources of ethylene.
“Use of this unique product can yield greater sales and repeat business at the retail store level, whether at supermarkets, mass market, or individual floral shops, said Jim Daly, Vice President of Floralife, Inc. "As for some time now we have been selling EthylBloc™ technology in other major flower growing regions on a global basis and have seen firsthand the significant benefits of fresher flowers and longer vase life when treated. For supermarket and wholesale buyers importing flowers into their own countries from The Netherlands, they can now be treated in advance by the grower with this anti-ethylene inhibitor to help reduce flower shrink and increase profits.”
EthylBloc™ Technology is most effective on medium to highly sensitive cultivars exposed to ethylene, such as Phaleanopsis orchids, roses, Alstroemeria, carnations, Delphinium, Stock, Phlox, and Freesia. Sensitivity can differ by variety within a genus, so there can be benefit variation by specific flower type.
The new registration of EthylBloc™ technology in The Netherlands strengthens Floralife’s commitment to advancing postharvest flower quality and increasing customer satisfaction.
Beginning June 1, 2010 these products will be distributed and available through Floralife Europe GmbH for sale to grower and wholesale customers.
