By Design Exclusive: David Barritt
davidbarrittApril 11, 2011 - David Barritt of Salmon Arm Florist in Salmon Arm, B.C. was the By Design floral designer featured in the April 2011 issue of Canadian Florist.

The florist proves there’s more to prom work than just spray roses and baby's breath. Check out the trend-forward corsages and boutonnières - fit for prom king and queen - that we couldn't fit in the print edition.

Clipped and Chic

Simple and fast, this classic tie clip is perfect in whites and red. A kalanchoe rose with corsage pins defines the outline of this timeless piece.

Berry Bright

This bright purple phalaenopsis orchid corsage is a versatile design that works for both the ladies and the gentlemen. Braided turquoise bouillon wire forms the base of this design, with accents of green hypericum berries added to complement the colours, all of which make this a standout design for the new grad.

 davidbarritt9 It’s a Ring Thing

With body jewelry comes rings. Twelve-gauge silver wire is covered in florets of gypsophila, infused with pink waxflower and delicate balls of soft pink bouillon wire. This add-on piece is a wonderful complement to any grad apparel.

Kaleidoscope of spirals and loops illustrate a circular motion using multiple rings of apple green bouillon wire among the vibrant blue delphinium and cotton candy waxflower. The wrapped bouillon wire forms a dimensional depth of colour and movement.
 davidbarritt12 Pink and Potted

This kalanchoe and a mini phalaenopsis orchid create a tiered garden pot effect, with blossoms of salmon kalanchoe complementing the copper flat wire.

 davidbarritt13 Tutti Frutti

This brilliant yellow/green cymbidium works beautifully with pink bugatti spray roses and bright craspedia balls. The infusion of lime green ribbon coupled with green hypericum berries results in a fiesta of colour. This wristlet screams fun!

Statement Stems

Make a strong, bold statement with this piece. Braided bear grass and hypericum coils frame a bronze cymbidium, giving this boutonniere movement and texture. This is not for the shy grad.
