After earning a master’s degree in political science and building a successful career on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Lisa made the decision to return to a passion she had always kept as a hobby – horticulture and flowers. Married with two children, Lisa moved back to her hometown of Kitchener-Waterloo, Ont., said goodbye to the public service and hello to a new adventure as not only a florist but an enthusiastic businesswoman as well. Successfully completing several floral design courses and building her skills with other florists, Lisa opened her first retail location, Les Fleurs Floral Boutique in 2006. Often referred to as an artist as well as a florist, Lisa continues to change the way flowers are presented in the Waterloo Region. For this portfolio, Lisa created holiday designs.

Pint-sized punch
Gardenia in a mint julip cup can be a strong statement of glamour in small punches. These cups are beautiful sprinkled along a Christmas buffet table or on a kitchen island during a holiday party.

Something to talk about
The tall chandelier arrangement could be used at a holiday wedding as a dramatic table centrepiece. During the holidays people like to see things with a bit more glamour – crystals and glamorous holiday colours such as deep red and black and silver.

In feathered fashion
For this carnation arrangement, I included lots of crystal and a bit of glitz. The flowers might be everyday but the sparkle allows them to stand proud, and standout, during the holidays.

A warm alternative
In this lady’s slipper orchid pot, the warm colours are earthy but the pot sparkles and the orchids are above the ordinary. Some of the special varieties I chose were gardenia, garden roses and lady’s slipper orchids.
