North Toronto florists celebrate 10 years
Written by Amanda Ryder
Nov. 17, 2011 - Ten years ago, best friends Jessica McEwen and Erin Paterson decided to open a flower shop with little more than their longtime dreams and a few thousand dollars.

And over those past 10 years, while many shops have opened up on Avenue Road only to close down a few months later, Periwinkle Flowers has remained a fixture in the community at 1957 Avenue Rd, providing clients with fresh, creative flower arrangements that can be delivered across the GTA.

Jessica and Erin work closely with customers to turn their sentiments into stunning floral displays for friends and family. Periwinkle also creates fabulous wedding flowers tailored to suit every bride's tastes and budget.

"Even after moving away from the GTA, I have been unable to find another florist who satisfies all my needs. The flowers you guys use are always the best quality and no matter what my budget is, you always make me feel like a valued customer and that my small order is just as important and precious as all the bigger deals," said customer Andrea Florian. "You made my wedding planning simple, easy and elegant and still managed to keep things personal. I love that you're both so involved in the community you sell to...  I'm never going anywhere else for flowers again!"

Periwinkle's commitment to being responsible and active members of the community in which they operate has been a priority since Jessica and Erin opened their shop. They are involved with several charitable organizations, including Second Harvest and the Huntington Society of Canada. The shop has been running a "Flowers for Food" drive every December, has sponsored the Run for HD in June, and donates flowers, gift certificates and gifts to local schools, churches and synagogues. The business has given to charities including Na'amat Canada, Camp Kirk and Amnesty International.
