Jan 19, 2012, Toronto - The second annual Canadian Florist Business Forum served up a mix of sales, marketing, purchasing and flower-care advice to a full house of florists yesterday.
Held near Toronto's Pearson Airport, the event featured an entirely new slate of speakers sharing hands-on tips that florists could put to work immediately in their shops. Amas Tenumah, vice-president of operations for Teleflora, kicked off the day with an energetic presentation about the expectations of the evolving customer and how florists can keep up. P.J. Vermeer, president and general manager of Westbrook Floral Ltd., offered tips and tricks to maintaining a strong relationship between the wholesaler and florist. Tim Huckabee, owner of FloralStrategies and the day’s keynote speaker, shared his seasoned sales-increasing techniques with the crowd in an engaging two-part presentation. Steve Daum, director of Superflor Technologies at Floralife, brought a little science to the day with care and handling strategies and tips to prolonging vaselife. Lenny Faustino, the Canadian technology consultant at FTD, wrapped up the day with marketing and customer-service tips to enhance the customer’s experience.
