earthday1Today marks Earth Day, an event that’s been celebrated around the world since the first Earth Day was held on April 22, 1970. Six million Canadians join 500 million people, in over 180 countries, to stage events and projects today in hopes of raising awareness about environmental issues.

Are you taking part in Earth Day celebrations in your community? What are you doing in your shop to help conserve energy or save the environment? Comment on this blog to tell us about your Earth Day efforts.

Hatcher Florist gave away over 700 stems of Eco cerified roses, Denmar, carnations Funza, and alstroemeria from Suasuque. Brett Reid from Sierra Eco came buy to help hand out the flowers. We had a photographer from The Mirror come by, and take a shot of Bob Hatcher giving each family a flower each. We also sent a general broadcast e-mail to all our customers, asking them to come in for a free flower.
